For this fine art print, the inspiration and reference are drawn from the reference of the chaos described in one of our favorite manga called Space Pirate Captain Harlock ( Albator in French ) illustrated by Leiji Matsumoto.

We recognize ourselves in this persona figure of the pirate who rebelled against Earth’s Government and humanity’s general apathy.

The chaos illustrated in the series is still fully applicable to nowadays sleepy society, which is tormented by fear and oppression, forgetting all the creative riches we have to share to be happy.

Humanity is slowly and steadily succumbing to boredom or despair, often due to defeat and subjugation of capitalism. Rising against the general apathy, Harlock denies defeat and leads an outlaw crew.

Captain Harlock, is such an example of modern hero: a space pirate with an individualist philosophy of life. He is as noble as he is taciturn, rebellious, stoically fighting against totalitarian regimes, whether they be earthborn or alien. In his own words ;

“I fight for no one’s sake, only for something deep within my heart.”

Fusion of disparate elements of their graffiti letter. The elements and items are based on their own creations – drawn by hand at first and then evolve to vector, to painting. Each mixed mashup is a window into their body of work. A slideshow of their art and family. A wad of love for graffiti.

Even if it looks chaotic, each element in the composition is thought with millimeter accuracy under the graphic eye’s of Scien and Klor, before being approved on to the realization of the canvas.

For sure the result can look weird and heavily stylized, rarely attempting any semblance of existing street art through the elements and items used are based on their own creations, hand sketching first as ever.

123KLAN: “When street knowledge meets technology, and graffiti art melts with graphic design.”
